The global provider of Electronic Devices, Converge, announced that it has received AS6081 certification from the National Quality Assurance, USA, Inc. (NQA), a global provider of quality and environmental management registration services.

AS6081 is a quality certification that standardizes the requirements for distributors in the procurement of parts, detection of counterfeits, and establishment of quality management processes.

High Quality Bar

This quality standard is intended to provide a higher level of protection and to assess, mitigate, and control the risk of fraudulent/counterfeit parts being distributed or entering the global electronics supply chain.

Released in November 2012 by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International G-19 (counterfeit electronics components) distributor committee, the new standard released enables electronic components distributors in hi-reliability markets to help identify reliable sources to procure parts through supplier and vendor management, evaluate, mitigate and control the risk of fraudulent and counterfeit parts being distributed and properly report suspect and confirmed fraudulent/counterfeit parts to other potential users and Authority Having Jurisdiction

“Obsolescence in components is increasing and the industry needed a response to protect the supply chain,” stated Eric Checkoway, vice president and general manager Converge. “AS6081 is a comprehensive standard that will be required for the hi-reliability market. The bar for quality in supply has never been higher, and now manufacturers will be able to better judge who they should engage with in the independent space. We are very proud that Converge is among the first globally to be certified.”

Audits at Converge have been ongoing since the release of the standard. Converge has been compliant with the new AS6081 standard since 2014, and certification became effective on February 23, 2015.
