The Nistec Group inaugurated its new electronic production plant in northern Israel last week. The group invested more $10 million in the 8,000 m2 plant. The new production site will produce a wide range of electronic products in many fields: industry, communications, medicine, security and more. The plant currently has more than 240 employees, many of which belong to one of the many minority populations in Israel northern district.

Nistec’s decision to open a new production plant in Israel is not a trivial, as local producers face fierce competition, mainly from the Far East. Many companies choose to outsource production to cheaper off shore locations. In a speech held at the inauguration of the new plant, Nistec’s founder and CEO,  Yitzhak Nissan, lamented the lack of governmental support for the local electronics industry. Nissan expressed his wish to see government policies similar to those in the US, German and India to support local producers.

The Nistec Group is a private company, owned by Mr. Yitzhak Nissan, and is involved in the EMS and the design services business together with its subsidiaries. Founded in 1985, Nistec provides a one stop-shop solution for electronics outsourcing. Nistec’s line of services starts with NPI (new product introduction) through printed circuit board design and then PCB assembly and turn-key projects.

In 2008 it acquired TPI’s northern Israel production plant in Maalot, converting it to Nistec North – which will now occupy the newly constructed plant. In 2009 the group took over another production plant in northern Israel, operating today as Nistec Golan. In 2013 it acquired Israeli PCB manufacturer Eltek, which oversees sales surpassed local sales this year for the first time. The entire Nistec group has more than 850 employees.
